I am continuing my sabbatical into a second year. While most of my clients are International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement Calculus students, I am working with a few other mathematics students who are seeking deeper understanding.
I have taught high school and middle school mathematics for 31 years in ten schools in five countries. I love mathematics, and I love sharing that passion with others of all ages and abilities.
I have tutored throughout my career, and I used the Covid pandemic as an opportunity to learn how to connect with my students and help them learn math via video chatting and shared whiteboards.
For five years, I was a Deputy Chief Examiner for IB Mathematics SL, writing and leading the assessment of exam papers during that time.
President Barack Obama recognized me with the 2013 Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. I spent the award’s $10,000 on a racing bike.
