Stephanie Weber has extensive experience teaching math to grades 5 through 12 in private schools, in New York City and in California. She has received Master’s degrees from Harvard (Teaching and Curriculum) and Wesleyan (Math).
Stephanie believes that all students are capable mathematicians, and customizes her work to each individual learner’s needs, whether emerging or advanced. She focuses on the importance of understanding how and why math works, so that students can successfully apply the concepts they are learning and realize their capabilities when working independently.
Stephanie has designed and taught courses for a range of students. She has worked with students requiring a high level of support and scaffolding required to build a strong conceptual foundation and confidence in their problem-solving skill, and she has also worked with students seeking to expand their knowledge of complex mathematical ideas and their ability to engage independently as robust problem solvers.
In addition to teaching math, Stephanie has served in many administrative roles including Department Chair, Director of Studies, Head of Upper School, and Assistant Head. She has developed a deep understanding of the developmental needs of students, cognitive and emotional, and incorporates that knowledge and experience into her work as a tutor.
Stephanie strives to make each tutoring session positive and productive. She combines kindness, patience, and respect, supported by creative and careful preparation – and a touch of humor and fun also helps!
Stephanie has tutored students from many independent and public schools including: Brunswick, Chapin, Churchill, Columbia Grammar, Greenwich High School, Proctor Academy, Riverdale Country School, Scarsdale Public Schools, Spence and The Harvey School.
